Welcome to the Patriot Pledge!
The Patriot Pledge is an oath demanded by the people of all candidates running for elected office within the Congressional branch of the federal government. It is an oath each candidate signs committing him or her to the following:
- I will not serve within the Congressional branch of the federal government for more than 12 years.
- I will have a complete understanding of every provision of a bill prior to casting a vote in favor of it.
- I will spend the government’s money as prudently as I would spend my own money, recognizing that each dollar the government spends was taken from a working citizen or borrowed against our future.
- I will not accept any health or pension benefits provided to me as a member after departing Congress and will work to pass legislation ensuring Congress is part of the same retirement and health benefits system provided to common working class Americans.
- I will record and post transcripts or videos on the internet of all meetings I or my staff hold with any lobbyist (or former congressmen) while serving in the Congress and I vow not to become a lobbyist following my tenure in Congress.
Voters - Take the Voter Pledge & Spread the Word!
I pledge to vote in all federal Congressional races held in my district and, when afforded the opportunity, to only vote for candidates who have signed the Patriot Pledge.
As Americans, whether Democrat, Republican or Independent, we need to come together and take back Congress from the powerful special interests and career politicians who now control it. It is time we unite to replace the "bought and paid for" political pawns seeking a “career in politics” with passionate, principled patriots seeking true "service of their country”. The latter is what our founding fathers had in mind and we need to restore it now for the sake of our children and grandchildren.
The Patriot Pledge is a set of common sense "rules of the road" for our Congressional servants. It is a litmus test for a candidate's sincerity and motives in holding office. 85% of Americans want Patriot Pledge candidates elected to Congress*. If you are one of the 85%, take the Voter Pledge above and join the Patriot Pledge coalition! As importantly, email everyone you know and make sure they take the Voter Pledge as well. The two major political parties and the special interests who feed them want us divided and complacent as it reinforces their power. Let’s disappoint them.
Once we have united, the success of the Patriot Pledge coalition rests with being able to do two things - communicating easily and effectively with all supporters and counting supporters by Congressional district. This is why we ask you to take the Voter Pledge and provide your email and zip code. We will let you know which candidates have signed the Patriot Pledge and inform each candidate regarding the precise number of votes at stake in his or her district.
Politics is obviously a business of numbers. In recent decades, it has been more about the number of dollars than votes. Together we can make it about votes again and votes which can't be bought. Our goal is to have 12 - 15 million voters unite around the Patriot Pledge by taking the Voter Pledge. However, it all starts with you taking it and sharing it with others. Once our goal has been reached, the vast majority of Congressional candidates will be required to sign the Patriot Pledge in order to win.
